Research Associate with the Institute for the Environment at UNC-Chapel Hill [APPLY]
The Center for Environmental Modeling for Policy Development (CEMPD) of the Institute for the Environment at UNC has an opening for a Research Associate to provide technical assistance for air quality modeling projects at the center. The incumbent will provide project support for development and applications of air quality modeling systems including dispersion and chemistry-transport models. The incumbent is expected to address several issues related to air quality models including, but not limited to, optimization methods, and model evaluation. Strong verbal and writing communication skills are also required. Periodic verbal and written reports on the status and progress of project tasks will be part of the incumbent responsibilities. Demonstrated efficient problem-solving techniques related to air quality modeling practices including quality assurance, and model-output evaluations are required. Requires B.S., or M.S. in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, or related field. Expertise in numerical modeling techniques, air quality post processing and model output evaluation is required. Familiarity with the CMAQ air quality and or other chemistry-transport models, Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems, FORTRAN, Python, C, and C will be considered favorably.
