Normbeis4 reads gridded land use data, gridded biomass data, and emissions factors and produces gridded normalized biogenic emissions. Normbeis4 is the first program in the SMOKE-BEIS4 model. The gridded land use includes various number of land use types. Emissions factors are provided for each land use type. The output gridded domain is the same as the input domain for the land use data. Emission fluxes are normalized to 30 °C, and isoprene and methyl-butenol fluxes are also normalized to a photosynthetic active radiation (PAR) of 1000 µmol/m2s. Normbeis4 also computes normalized emissions for winter months, using a winter factor read in from the emissions factor table.
For BEIS version 4, Normbeis4 outputs winter and summer normalized emissions for the 35 species/compounds (including 14 monoterpenes and 1 sesquiterpene) listed below. The output units for NO are grams of nitrogen per hour; the units for all other species/compounds are grams of carbon per hour.
