2.3.6. Standard Industrial Classification codes

Although SIC codes are being replaced by NAICS codes in building emission inventories at EPA, SIC codes are still used in emissions processing. These 4-digit codes use a 2-level hierarchy that is recognized by SMOKE for application of growth, control, and chemical speciation factors. The two code levels are illustrated below. More information on SIC codes is available at http://www.osha.gov/oshstats/sicser.html.
